TsAGI at Bauman MSTU Strategic Session

A cutting-edge university campus network is being created and developed under the Russian National R&T Development Strategy, designed to shape favorable environment for implementing individual and team projects. Coordinated by TsAGI (a part of NRC “Zhukovsky Institute”), the World‑Class Research Center (WCRC) ‘Supersonic’ presented its unique case of administering the scientific consortium. The presentation took place during the Strategic Session for Shaping Campus Product Projects, which was organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation at Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

Elena Pudalova, Head for Advanced Development at TsAGI and Deputy Head at the WCRC ‘Supersonic’, reported on the WCRC’s activities and operating principles. She spoke on its administration model, coordination of its organization members’ activities, and on R&T cluster created under the WCRC ‘Supersonic’ Establishment and Development Program. Elena Pudalova also spoke on likely strategic development scenarios of the WCRC, on administrative challenges and current risks, suggested the optimization scenarios for administrative model, etc.

The scientists, the educationalists and the businesspeople determined the campuses’ development priorities, such as creation of relevant programs in space tool engineering, biotechnologies, biomedicine, genetics, photonics, sensorics, urban studies, engineering, and cutting-edge production technologies. Project teams shaped the strategy of developing modern campuses and chose the products they will develop in close cooperation with the industry. Many open educational platforms will form common corporate culture of tutors, students and scientists. This will bring science to a new level and involve youth into it.

‘Such events allow us to share our experience. Our main goal is to show the research potential and make it publicly available. The bright examples are the WCRC “Supersonic” scientific achievements in the development of new-generation high-speed passenger aircraft, control system, and organization of corporate processes,’ said Elena Pudalova.

The WCRC ‘Supersonic’ is a key player in domestic aircraft engineering; it aims to create new supersonic passenger aircraft technologies and to solve such fundamental future supersonic challenges as lower sonic boom, environmental noise, fewer emissions, more fuel-efficient engines, etc.
