TsAGITech Holds First Stage of Mind Power Workshop

6 July 2022

Today it is especially important for novice researchers — future technological leaders of the country — to develop their competencies and innovative projects. The scientific and practical conference “Power of Mind”, the first stage of which was held on June 30 on the site of TsAGITech of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Professor N.E. Zhukovsky (a part of NRC “Zhukovsky Institute”), is called to help with this. The event is timed to coincide with the 75th Anniversary of Zhukovsky Science City.

The conference focuses on pre-acceleration of the innovative projects of young scientists, engineers, and students. Its first stage included a plenary session to discuss scientific issues, an educational program consisting of theoretical modules, and a practical business game.

The participants were welcomed by Kirill Sypalo, Director General of TsAGI, Corresponding Member of the RAS. ‘It is great to see so many young, ambitious and creative people at TsAGITech today. We are to enter new economy aimed at creating technological sovereignty, the technological “diamond bank”. That is why all the current activities—first of all, those done in the science cities—are especially important,’ he said.

Opening speeches were made by Aleksandr Dvoinikov, Office Director at the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in the Sphere of Science and Education of the Presidential Council for Science and Education; by Yury Sibirsky, Deputy Head of the Skolkovo Foundation’s department for Regional Development; and by Pavel Lytkin, the President of the Innovation Promotion Fund. Zhukovsky science city was represented by its Mayor Yury Prokhorov, initiator of the Conference.

A remarkable moment was the signing of agreement between TsAGI and the Innovation Promotion Fund. The agreement will allow the parties to develop win-win cooperation related to innovative projects and to attract investments beneficial for TsAGITech residents.

Plenary speech was also made by Sergey Chernyshev, Chief Scientific Officer of TsAGI and Academician of the RAS, on current scientific trends, modern challenges and predictions for the future. Views on global technological development trends were shared by Alexander Fertman, Director on Science and Education at Skolkovo Foundation. International educational cooperation was highlighted in the report by Irina Kuklina, Executive Director at the Analytical Centre of the International Centre for Innovations in Science, Technology and Education. In turn, Evgeny Voitenkov, CEO at Gazenergomash, presented his own view on rising from scientist to the head of technology company.

Within the theoretical modules, the participants were informed on the basics of research and innovation management, the development and implementation stages of innovative project, financial tools for project development, and intellectual property protection. In addition, the young scientists and engineers practiced their teamwork skills within IKRA smart business intellectual game.

‘The name “Power of Mind” was not chosen by chance. As Nikolay Zhukovsky said, “a man will fly, relying not on the power of his muscles, but on the power of his mind”. And we hope that this event will become a “launch pad” for young people on their way to technological leadership,’ said Dmitry Chernyshev, Head of Innovative Infrastructure and Technologies at TsAGI and conference moderator.

The second stage of the Power of Mind conference will be held within July-September this year, and the third stage in September. The event will end with a practical module, project defense and award ceremony.
