TsAGI, RAS Hold 21st ‘Models and Methods of Aerodynamics’ School Seminar
22 June 2021
From June 4 to 11, Yevpatoria city held the 21st International School-Seminar, “Models and methods of aerodynamics”, organized by TsAGI (a part of NRC “Zhukovsky Institute”) and the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).
The school-seminar had a wide scientific agenda, including such areas as: aerodynamics, gas dynamics, combustion, stability, turbulence, hydrodynamics, robotic systems, and computational aerodynamics. The participants discussed issues related to fluid-mechanics and gas-mechanics models, test facilities and measuring methods. Totally, about 90 reports were presented at the event; the third of them had been prepared by young scientists.
“Distinctively, each session of this training seminar is followed by an active discussion. This is especially important for young researchers who have a unique opportunity to receive feedback on their work from experienced scientists, candidates and doctors of science. We are proud of the high-level reports and discussions. This is determined by strong participants; there are highest professionals among them. Importantly, despite the pandemic and difficult epidemiological conditions, the training seminar did not interrupt its work, and has maintained a high standard this year,” said M. Gaifullin, Co-Chairman of the Training Seminar Program Committee, Corresponding member of the RAS, the Leading Researcher (TsAGI).
The 21st Training Seminar united about 120 scientists and specialists from Russia’s top industrial institutions, academic institutions, industrial organizations and universities. Apart from TsAGI, the seminar was represented by CIAM, Khristianovich Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (RAS), Lavrentyev Institute of Hydrodynamics (RAS), Kutateladze Institute of Thermophysics (RAS), JIHT RAS, Ufa Federal Research Centre (RAS), Institute of Mechanics (MSU), All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Experimental Physics, S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia, Lomonosov Moscow State University, MIPT, SMTU, Institute for Energy and Advanced Technologies of RAS Kazan Research Center, etc.
Within the training seminar, TsAGI also organized a field meeting, ‘Fundamental challenges of creating a new-generation supersonic transport’. The event was held in Sirius educational center (Sochi) in a mixed format. Scientific agenda of the WCRC “Supersonic” was presented at the meeting. The event was held within the Program for creating and developing WCRC ‘Supersonic’, supported by Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation (the Agreement No. 075-11-2020-023 dated December 8, 2020).
The annual International School-Seminar “Models and Methods of Aerodynamics” has been held in Yevpatoria since 2001. Its foundation was initiated by the Russian Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and TsAGI. The school-seminar is devoted to the development of new models and methods in aerodynamics, fluid mechanics and gas mechanics. The event is attended by leading scientists and young specialists from aviation industrial research institutes, institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, universities and organizations of the aerospace industry. The 21st International School-Seminar “Models and Methods of Aerodynamics” was supported by Aerocon company.
