15 June 2021
TsAGI (a part of NRC “Zhukovsky Institute”) footballers won a bronze at 21st Industrial mini-football tournament of Profavia Cup. The competition was held from May 22 to 26 in Tuapse city.
Nine top teams participated in the competition, representing different Russian regions. The event was held in accordance with FIFA’s current simplified regulations.
Overall, TsAGI’s team played six matches. The most challenging was the match for the third-prize place. TsAGI played against Sarapul factory of electricity generators. That was their second game during the tournament. The Sarapul team showed better results at the first game; TsAGI, however, left their opponents no chances to win during the second game.
At this tournament, TsAGI sports reputation was defended by the Institute’s footballers from such departments as: Department for measuring technology and metrology, Department for aircraft dynamics and aircraft control systems, Chief Electrician Department, Chief Mechanic Department, Department for telecommunications and safety systems, and Research-And-Manufacturing Complex.
‘Our team was not full at the tournament; furthermore, our player got injured the first day, so our team had only two substitutions while the others had five. Another difficulty was tight schedule of matches and a lack of time for a rest. However, we were lucky that the weather was cool and it was easy to breathe. There was an intensive struggle for score in each match as the strongest teams competed. Yet, despite all difficulties, we succeeded and won bronze for TsAGI at the Cup,’ said Aleksandr Filin, Captain of TsAGI Mini-Football Team, an employee of the Institute’s Chief Electrician Department.
The tournament also had teams from Aluminiy Metallurg Rus JSC (Belaya Kalitva town), ‘Rosvertol’ Rostov helicopter production facility (Rostov-on-Don), Kalinin Machine-Building Plant PJSC (Yekaterinburg), and Kazan Helicopters (Kazan city). The first-league teams were represented by Sarapul factory of electricity generators (Sarapul city, the Udmurt Republic), Rimera Alnas LLC (Almetyevsk city), Sukhoi Experimental Design Bureau (Moscow), and Kirov local social organization (Kirov city).
TsAGI’s football team regularly competes in municipal, regional and national sports events, often winning them. For example, the team won Zhukovsky 2020 Spartakiad which was held among labor communities.
