TsAGI Chief Scientific Officer becomes the member of the State Commission for Academic Degree and Titles

Sergey Chernyshev, Chief Scientific Officer of the Zhukovsky Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI, a member of the National Research Center “Zhukovsky Institute”) and Academician of the Russian Academy of Science joined the presidium of the State Commission for Academic Degree and Titles of the Russian Federation. The new members of the presidium were approved by the Government Resolution of the Russian Federation No.
The presidium of the State Commission for Academic Degree and Titles is a collegiate body, functioning under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. Its functions are to assess dissertations (including contested cases and appeals), to confer academic titles and admit to degrees, to form proposals to improve the performance of dissertational councils. The Presidium is also endowed to overturn decisions of expert councils on awarding the scientific degrees and set up special teams to conduct additional scientific expertise.
“The Presidium of the State Commission for Academic Degree and Titles is the highest instance, which gives judgments on the applicants for degrees and titles,” noted Sergey Chernyshev. “The appointment underlines TsAGI’s high status as the National Centre for aeronautical science, and as a scientific Institute with dissertations disputation board.”
