TsAGI scientist is a laureate of the 13th All-Russian Conference of Young Scientists “Issues of mechanics: theory, experiment, new technology”
11 April 2019
Scientists of the Zhukovsky Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI, a member of the National Research Center “Zhukovsky Institute”) participated in the 13th All-Russian Conference of Young Scientists “Issues of mechanics: theory, experiment, new technology.” The event took place in Academic Town in Novosibirsk and in Sheregesh village (Kemerovo region). This year TsAGI was one of the event’s co-organizers.
Within the framework of the Conference, Vladislav Vershkov, the Institute’s specialist became a prize-winner in the annual Competition of young scientists, students and postgraduate students. He presented the results of test calculations of aerodynamic characteristics of a rigid rotor at a horizontal flight phase and described the method of blades cyclic control and flapping. The method will be used in further research. As a result, there was formed a methodology of a deforming grid for the aerodynamics of the articulated rotor at straight and level flight.
Tatyana Nagovitsina, head of the Laboratory of TsAGI’s Research and Manufacturing complex and her colleagues were among the contestants. The scientists delivered a report where they analyzed the high speed cutting at milling of metal parts and its impact on the surface layer. In the course of research, scientists discovered that this method of metal structural materials’ cutting leads to the improvement of the quality of the resulting surface layer.
Vladimir Vermel, Head of the Research Center of TsAGI’s Research and Manufacturing Complex was invited as a visiting scientist. His report, prepared in collaboration with a team of scientists was dedicated to ensure the accuracy in aerodynamic aircraft models manufacturing for wind tunnel testing.
The scientific Symposium was timed to coincide with the
In addition to the scientific component, the Institute contributed to the sports part of the Conference. The amateur competitions on slalom skiing and snowboarding were arranged at the Conference for the first time with the support of TsAGI’s primary trade-union organization and Council of young scientists of the Institute of theoretical and applied mechanics by S. A. Khristianovich (Siberian branch of Russian Academy of Sciences). Anton Gorbushin, head of the Laboratory of Aerodynamics and Flight Dynamics Complex of TsAGI became the winner, and Igor Bosnyakov, TsAGI Head of Section of Department of aerodynamics and aircraft missiles took the third place among skiers.
