TsAGI Centenary: Forum 3rd day results

The ICARe 2nd EU-Russia Workshop took place on the third day of the International Science and Business Forum “Global aeronautical challenges and Russia in the international technology community,” which was dedicated to the centenary of the Zhukovsky Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI, a member of the National Research Center “Zhukovsky Institute.”)
25 representatives of relevant ministries, the European Commission, as well as leading Russian and European aerospace organizations, such as GosNIIAS, CIAM, Dassault Aviation (France), DLR (Germany), CIRA (Italy) participate in the ICARe workshop. TsAGI participates at the event as the National Contact Point for the EU-Russia cooperation in aeronautics. In addition, the 9th IFAR Summit continued its work in November 28th. The participants summed up the discussion on the issues of urban air mobility and then Director General of the National Aerospace Laboratory of the Netherlands (NLR) Michael Peters informed the members about the preparation for the next IFAR Summit 2019. Next, the scientists visited TsAGI historic territory. It is TsAGI Moscow Scientific Research complex now. The members of the delegation saw model tank, the first vertical wind tunnel of the Institute and learned about the formation of the Russian Center of aeronautical science.
Other Forum activities went on in parallel with the Summit. The participants of the 17th French-Russian seminar TsAGI-ONERA presented reports on advanced transport aircraft, studies on an innovative concept of the civil aircraft with natural laminar flow, non-linear flight dynamics and composites. The international Conference CARDC- TsAGI on fundamental and applied aerodynamics continued the scientific sessions, which was dedicated to experimental and applied aerodynamics. After the scientific program the participants visited TsAGI Museum in Moscow, as well observed several aerodynamic wind tunnels of the Institute.
Within the framework of a joint Russian-Japanese seminar TsAGI-JAXA the scientists presented reports on the wind tunnel test technologies, advanced civil aircraft design concepts such as future aircraft structure concept, aircraft structure state monitoring and others. The participants had an excursion at TsAGI test installations. In particular, the scientists looked over TsAGI static tests hall, flight simulators, Europe’s largest subsonic wind tunnel and the most modern in the Eastern hemisphere transonic wind tunnel.
The participants of the HiSST scientific-technical conference discussed in plenary the experience of construction of the Tu-144 and its usage in the developing of a supersonic business jet; different perspectives and challengers of speed. The work went on within nine sections of major themes, including high-speed aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics, control systems, materials and structures, propulsion systems and components, etc. This day was eventful and had over 70 reports of Russian and foreign specialists. TsAGI specialists presented numerical studies of receptivity of a supersonic boundary layer to solid particulates. Members of well-known Russian scientific organizations delivered their reports: CIAM, Joint Institute for high temperatures RAS, MAI, MIPT, Institute of mechanics. Our foreign colleagues were representatives of MBDA-Systems (Germany), Oxford University (United Kingdom), ESA-ESTEC (Netherlands), ONERA (France), Hyundai Rotem Company (Korea), etc.
