TsAGI at ILA 2018

The delegation of the Zhukovsky Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI) visited the International Aerospace Exhibition ILA Berlin Air Show 2018. The event was held in late April in Berlin.
At the Russia-EU working group session the participants discussed the most pressing areas of joint research, underlying flagship projects and prospects for the development of EU-Russia cooperation. Sergey Chernyshev, TsAGI Director General, Academician of RAS and the Head of the TsAGI delegation participated in the meeting together with representatives of the European Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. The Institute director general took part in the round-table meeting “Is international cooperation necessary?” organized by the European Commission. Sergey Chernyshev highlighted the experience of fruitful cooperation of TsAGI and other Russian aviation institutes with key foreign aeronautics organizations.
Sergey Lyapunov, TsAGI Deputy General Director, Head of the Aerodynamics & Flight Dynamics Complex, reported on new future aircraft concepts, challenges in the development of aviation, experimental and computational studies at TsAGI, as well as security issues the Institute deals with. Lyapunov’s report “New aircraft concept: the future begins today” came at the IX European Congress for transport aviation.
In addition, the heads of the International Forum on Aviation Research (IFAR), where TsAGI represented Russia, held a meeting. The participants discussed the forthcoming IFAR Summit agenda; the summit will take place in late November this year in Moscow and will be devoted to TsAGI’s centenary anniversary.
Within the framework of ILA 2018, TsAGI leadership held a series of bilateral meetings with colleagues from ONERA, DLR, NASA, Airbus, CIRA, the Safran Groupi, etc., and discussed the further cooperation development.
ILA (Internationale Luft-und Raumfahrtausstellung Berlin — ILA Berlin Air Show 2018) is one of the largest air shows in the world. It is held every two years. The exhibition is organized by German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI), in conjunction with Messe Berlin GmbH and is a significant event in the field of aeronautics.
