TsAGI and Ilyushin Aviation Complex hold meeting on the development of transport aviation.

Representatives of the of the Zhukovsky Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI, a member of the National Research Center “Zhukovsky Institute”) and their colleagues from the PJSC “Ilyushin Aviation Complex” discussed issues on the development of transport aviation. Will our country develop more robust transport aviation and what should be done to achieve the target?
The meeting was held at TsAGI. The parties agreed on the need to modernize the existing aircraft fleet and on new aircraft engineering. They reviewed current issues and outlined the way toward a solution. TsAGI Director General and Academician Sergey Chernyshev and PJSC “Ilyushin Aviation Complex” Director General Alexei Rogozin opened the meeting. Then experts, including the chief designers of the IL aircraft, discussed the joint projects IL-112/114, IL-276 and Il-476/478, including preparations for the first flight of the Il-112V. Particular attention was paid to the market situation and the prospects for the development of transport aviation in Russia. In addition, the delegation visited the TsAGI endurance-testing hall.
“TsAGI and Il are long-term and special partnerships,” explained Sergey Chernyshev. “Today we discussed the status of ongoing joint projects such as the IL-112, IL-276 and Il-476, and agreed on plans for the future. It is important that the leadership of Il and TsAGI have a common outlook regarding the prospects for the development of transport aviation and be ready to cooperate in this important area.”
